About Skape
Skape is a tool for making location-based experiences: audio walks, guided tours, installations and apps that react to where people are. You build in the studio in your browser, test on site with your phone and publish to the Skape app. Listeners open a project with a link, a code or a QR code, without an account.
Skape is made by Whateverland AB, a small company with offices in Falun and Stockholm, Sweden.
Why we built Skape
Skape grew out of years of creating sound works with artists, in museums and outdoors. Custom technology often took a large part of the budget. We wanted to make these experiences easier to create, while keeping the same artistic freedom.
We've built Skape alongside creators, project by project, around their real needs. The aim is an easy-to-use tool that leaves you free to shape how your experience behaves.
You can read how Bergets berättelser, an audio walk on Hoverberget, was made with Skape.
How we make money
Organizations pay to publish projects: €80 a month for each published project, or €240 a month for up to ten, invoiced per year. That's the business. Building and testing is free, listening is free, and there are no ads, no data sales and no revenue share.
What we promise
- Listeners don't sign up. No account, no play counts, and the app doesn't send their location to us.
- Your projects are yours. Export any project as a file whenever you want.
- We name every service that handles your data, in our privacy policy.
- A person answers. Write to hello@skap.es and we reply within two business days.
